We are proud to have completed the detailing contract for this landmark project in York City.
The stadium itself comprises four stands with an all seater capacity of over 8000 and is home to York City Football Club & York City Knights Rugby League Club. Adjoining the stadium is a leisure complex, which includes a 25m, 6 lane swimming pool, a sports hall for sports such as netball, basketball & badminton, and a gymnasium that features dance and spinning studios as well as an adventure sports zone and three 3G five a side pitches. One end of the finished building will house a 13 screen cinema, including a giant IMAX theatre, and will also contain a Community Hub offering health and wellbeing services, clinical services and a library for York residents and visitors.
Working in conjunction with Caunton Engineering we have detailed over 3000t of structural steelwork on this prestigious contract, many of the connections have been geometrically complex given the varied multi-use of the completed contract, and a great number of these needed to be detailed with acoustic pads to prevent noise travelling through the cinemas. Installation of the steelwork is now complete for the cinema block, leisure complex and the east stand, the remainder will be installed in time for opening in the summer of 2019.
